Schimmel Center's 2016-2017 season
DakhaBrakha returns, by popular demand, after a sold-out 2016 performance! This playful band from Kiev will perform new songs from their yet to released album as well as old favorites. Reshaping ancient and contemporary Ukrainian music, DakhaBrakha’s hypnotic textures meld soulful folk and ritual songs with Balkin, African, jazz, and R&B.

New York Theatre Ballet (NYTB) presents Uptown/Downtown/Dance, world premieres from Martin Lawrance and Zhong-Jing Fang as well as a restaging of Edward Henkel’s Re-Vision, on April 28 and 29, followed by The Alice-in-Wonderland Follies!, presented in a vaudeville setting and drawing on many different dance forms from Irish Step Dancing to African Juba to classical ballet, on April 30.

Acclaimed poet Alice Notley will deliver the spring 2017 Poets@Pace reading on Tuesday, April 18. Notley has published more than 25 books of poems, most recently Certain Magical Acts (Penguin, 2016), and has received a number of the most important poetry awards in America. One of her books was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Refreshments will be served following the reading, as well as a Q&A and book signing.

Lubin’s Entrepreneurship Lab is back at it again with the Pace Pitch Contest, where three minutes is all it takes to walk away with $1,000. Based on the elevator pitch concept, each contestant will have exactly three minutes to pitch their new venture idea to a distinguished panel of judges and an enthusiastic audience for cash prizes!
